Clan Tarentum Journeyman's Guide

Greetings from the Governor-General

First, allow me to welcome you to Clan Tarentum. Whether you were assigned here or chose our Clan, let me assure you that you will find everything here that you'll need to achieve your current and future goals in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, regardless of what those might be.

I understand that coming into the club and being part of a clan and house might be confusing at first. We were all there once. There are a lot of names, titles, and basic information that everyone relies on, most of which is covered in the Dark Side Compendium, the main "manual" of the Brotherhood. I'll try and present you with a lot of the basic information on how the clan works to help get you started so that you can be successful, and have as much fun as you desire within the DB, and especially within Tarentum.

Important Abbreviations Right Now

You'll pick up more later, but these are helpful to get started.

DJB or DB (used interchangably): Dark (Jedi) Brotherhood, the overarching club of which Clan Tarentum is a unit

DSC: Dark Side Compendium, an encyclopedia and constitution for the DJB, it defines structure, activity, ranks, decorations, etc.

CON: Consul, the ranking member of a Clan

QUA: Quaestor, the ranking member of a House, a clan subdivision

SA: Shadow Academy, the source of formal DB education you receive until you achieve the rank of...

DJK: Dark Jedi Knight, the rank at which a member is fully trained and active

Organization and Structure

As you may have read in the Dark Side Compendium, the Brotherhood is divided into several groups, each known as a Clan. The leader of a clan is referred to as the Consul (CON) and assisting is the Proconsul (PCON). Each clan is composed of smaller bodies called Houses. There are two active houses in Clan Tarentum: House Tridens and House Gladius. The leader of each house is known as a Quaestor (QUA) and is assisted by an Aedile (AED).

You'll be assigned to one of the two houses upon joining the clan, and from there have the option of joining a Battle Team. Battle Teams, or Circles, as they are more formally known, are groups of members with similar interests just as Jedi Outcast, X-Wing Alliance, or writing fiction. You are encouraged to join a Circle which emphasizes in the area that you find the most enjoyable to do within the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. Circles are a good way to help you get to know people and become active within your house and the clan. If you're interested in joining one, contact the QUA of your house.

Mentoring Program

Also upon joining Clan Tarentum you have the option of being part of a Master-Apprentice pairing (just like in the books and movies). Your Master will serve as a friend and mentor, guiding you from your introduction into the clan until your elevation to Dark Jedi Knight. Masters play a part in the Trials of Knighthood that all Dark Jedi must take to become a full Dark Jedi Knight. Though it is not required you have a Master, I strongly encourage you to take part in this.

Websites and Communication

While the websites are not integral to activity, they do help keep a central location for information, email addresses, and other information such as news posts, message boards, etc. The following websites are the most important websites to Clan Tarentum:

The DB site is the main location for information such as joining, the full DB rosters, the Shadow Academy, the Dark Side Compendium, and is a good site to mess around at, get to know the links, what info is there, etc.

The Clan Tarentum site is still a work in progress. While some functions are working properly, and available, I have several ideas planned for it that I would like to implement when I have time to work with those people who are helping me with it.

The Message Boards are another good, central location for information, as well as for getting to know people, and participate in run-ons, discussions, debates, and just plain chatting with people. While the message boards aren't real-time chat, they are a good place to meet people and find information and friends during your time within the DB.

Another excellent form of communication and a great way to get to sit down and talk to fellow members of the clan and the club as a whole is through IRC. IRC is an internet chat program, multiplayer notepad so to speak. You can download a free client called mIRC at http://www.mirc.com . The DJB uses the Undernet network. The clan channel is #Tarentum while the club's channel is #DB. If you have any questions or need help using mIRC, consult the Clan's IRC Guide or ask one of your leaders./p>

Clan Tarentum Background and History

Founded by the illustrious Magnus Kaerner of Tau Squadron, House Tarentum nested itself on the world of Yridia II, former penal colony of the Galactic Empire, a world almost completely covered in water. From there, under the direction and guidance of Master Zero and Maxamillian von Oberst, House Tarentum claimed victory in the very first house wars directed under Lord Khyron, earning the VSD Corsair.

House Tridens is one of the two original houses to Clan Tarentum and makes its home within the walls of Castle Tarentum, with the Clan Summit. It also boasts the Marauder Corvette Creeping Death and the PLT Aegis among its holdings. House Tridens was victorious within the Second Sith War, earning the title of First House of the Sith, the last house to ever receive this honor. Lead by Quaestor Demosthenes and Aedile JKast, House Tridens truly retains the honor and glory it has held from the beginning of its history.

The second of the original houses within Clan Tarentum is House Gladius, lead by Quaestor Frosty Romanae and Aedile Sato Bruth'Kothae. House Gladius possesses their asteroid base, the Sword's Sheath, which is a large asteroid within the Itaana Asteroid Belt in the Yridia System. The asteroid holds both planetary shields, as well as an older cloaking device, which both work to shield the base from all, except those the brethren of Tarentum choose to allow entrance.

From its founding and continuing today, Tarentum has been home to some to the most notable and revered figures in the history of the Brotherhood and has earned several honors, the most recent of which have been Second Clan of the Great Jedi War and two time champions of the Sith War. Our clan is a proud one, and one that is a great power within this club. It is my sincerest hope, that you will enjoy being part of our clan and come to think of it as your home as we do.
